Description
Closet Haikus is the 1st ever collaborative coming out poetry collection. Funded by a Kickstarter campaign, members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies submitted stories, which poet R.R. Noall turned into unique haikus. With the thought that haikus are an approachable form, the collection aims to educate members of the LGBTQ+ community about other identities and to also inform those outside of this community about the variety of identities and "coming out" experiences.

Each poem touched me in different ways. Eight years ago, I came out to my close family and friends, and these poems reminded me of how far I've come and how much further I need to go on my journey to accept myself. I thought that I would just come out once back then, but I have to come out every day. These poems will let people in, into the thoughts of someone "in the closet" with their feelings and emotions. I hope that people read this so that people that are not in the LGBTQ+ community can understand that this isn't a choice, and I hope too that it inspires people in the community to hang in there because things will get better.
