Just perfect match for the "unlockable" knobs already on my doors. Allows privacy and mild security for bedrooms and bathrooms. I say MILD security since it can be locked or unlocked with the enclosed tool or a small flat blade screw driver. I no longer have people walking in on me in my birthday suit anymore when I am taking a shower! Great price, nearly 1/4 the price in MY location. PERFECT match for the ones we already have installed. plus it is designed so that it is nearly impossible to lock yourself out of a room without TRYING to do it. You have to turn the lock knob to unlock when leaving the room and the only way to lock the door after that is to TURN the lock knob and then leave the room and close it. Which takes obvious thought to do it. I had a door lock that was the button push type lock with a key on the outside of the knob, I accidently palmed the knob and pushed in the button when I left the room, I left the door "ajar" when I went out and the heater turned on, which forced the door closed and locked the door behind me. There wasn't a key for the knob to be found and the knob was impossible to take apart. I had to cut a hole in the door to get back into the room! These are perfect to solve that problem since if you loose the "key" you can always get a small screwdriver to open it.My only hangup is the locking mechanism- it's a turn and not a push. That means you have to unlock from inside before opening and the "key" isn't a simple push in tool. It's more of a small screwdriver that has to be turned. We had to replace the existing entry knob because we installed a new door with different specifications. It was wonderful to be able to use our existing keys with the new lock set.I purchased four of these in the antique brass finish. Two work well. Because we didn't get them installed until after my return date, I'm stuck with them unless I want to roll the dice and order two more. The problem is that two of the knobs only work in one direction. We also had to do some serious routing and other work to the doors to make them fit at all. Finally, the method of hiding the screws leaves them virtually impossible to remove. Even if I want to replace the two that don't work, we'll have to take a reciprocating saw to the bad ones in order to remove them? So, I don't know what i'm going to do. So bummed that we waited to put them on. If you decide to order them, try them out right away. That's my advise. Or, order traditional ones that are easy to put on (and remove if they don't work)Pros:- Easy to install; took me about 15 minutes total with just a flathead screwdriver- Looks extremely attractive on a dark brown door- Feels good to the touch- Pre-oiledCons:- The door jamb isn't a universal fit jamb, so I had to use the old one- Pinhole key does not have a ring hole, so I needed to use something elseIt's a beautiful knob. The stock picture doesn't do it justice.Kwikset knobs that come in the plastic packaging cannot compare to this one. This came in a cardboard box and the quality of the chrome plating is much higher than that which you can find at that big orange store. I compared both side by side and this item was much better overall. This thing was easy as all get out to install compared to most knobs. I hate the screws that you can barely get to because of the knob and this setup eliminates the need for that. Install was a snap. On a side note buy this one instead of the hall knob. The price difference is negligible and the hall knob uses the hard to get to screws for install. Save the hassle and buy all lock knobs.Re-keying is very easy, just follow the instruction that come with the Entry Kit. The system was easy to install replacing an older Kwikset enty set.
