We recently replaced all of our interior doorknobs, and chose Kwikset Cove in Venetian Bronze. There was another Kwikset knob in the same color, which was totally smooth. We chose the Cove which has a small amount of detail (the ridged circle on the front of the knob). The color is a nice oil-rubbed bronze color, but the "highlight" color that comes through is sort of a dark copper color. I preferred this highlight color to a brassier color from another company.Hall/Closet knobs turn and latch, but do not have a lock. If you need a lock, you need the bedroom/bathroom privacy knob. We used the hall/closet knobs for our children's bedrooms, the hall closet, pantry closet, and basement door.I had never replaced doorknobs before, but I found installation to be an easy process to learn, and a fun and easy, fairly inexpensive way to update our home. They look much better than our 1979 doorknobs that we had gotten paint on several times! Our doors did not have inset space for the included plate (that goes on the side edge of the door, that would meet up with the strikeplate). After reading their instructions, we were able to pry it off and it then matched the style of our original doorknobs. We could have chiseled space out for them, but I didn't feel comfortable attempting it. It worked fine the way we did it, just a different appearance.
